The Thing Prequel Underway

The story behind the devastated Norwegian base in John Carpenter’s classic 1982 sci-fi chiller is to be told, with Eric Heisserer (the Nightmare On Elm Street remake) and Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) writing the script.
Dutch producer Matthijs van Heijningen is to direct, but no cast members have been confirmed.
Bryan Singer Returns To X-Men

The Usual Suspects director helmed the first X-Men in 2000, and followed it up with an even better film in its sequel, X2. After Brett Ratner took over for X-Men 3: The Last Stand, Singer is set to return for a prequel.
He told MySpace: “I’m ramping up to do a movie called Jack The Giant Killer at Warner Bros, and I just yesterday signed a deal to do an X-Men: First Class Origins picture, which is kind of cool. I’m very excited.”
He’ll be working from a script by newcomer Jamie Moss.
Dexter’s Debra Joins Nicolas Cage Flick

Cage stars as a teacher forced to turn vigilante when his wife (Jennifer Jones) is attacked. Carpenter, who plays the sister of her co-star and real-life husband Michael C. Hall on the hit TV show, will portray the best friend of Jones. Read More »
